Museum with art residence

The idea behind the Chicano Art Museum was to create connections with institutions, organizations, and collectives that are part of the Boyle Heights neighborhood and surrounding areas.

The main volumetric strategies included opening the ground floor to welcome visitors and residents of the area, maximizing downtown views, and creating interactions between the residential tower and the museum. The museum tower faces the street to maximize visibility for the neighborhood, with various voids and openings creating different environments for displaying Chicano art pieces, sculptures, and paintings. The rooftop terrace area and as well the amphitheater on the ground floor allow the organization of social events.
