Residential building
During the investigation part of the project “Tornel” located in San Miguel Chapultepec we asked ourselvs such questions as: What is the type and size of housing that each type of inhabitant needs? And made the conclusion that we cannot know the needs and desires of each individual. But the structural system organized in a grid and the module system can create flexibility of spaces. This system favors individuality since the person can choose the number of modules they want and their organization.
We considered several strategies, including adaptive reuse, flexible housing, integrating nature into interiors, and creating public and shared spaces. These strategies culminate in a hybrid building design that fosters human interaction and intimacy, cultivating a sense of belonging, roots, and identity. Imagine a city designed for human beings—personal, warm, intimate, and social.
